Standing Up for James - Sequel

Standing Up for James follows James’s life up until 2012, when he began to live in his specialist children’s home at Dame Hannah Rogers Trust in Devon on a 52 week basis. Since then his life has continued to be a roller coaster, as the Home was suspended by Ofsted suddenly for safeguarding reasons, in August 2014. He was temporarily relocated to RNIB Pears in Coventry, which itself has been investigated by Ofsted/CQC over safeguarding concerns, before settling at The Seashell Trust in 2015. He is now 18 and I am learning to navigate the adult social care and health systems. All of this has given me material for a sequel, which I am currently working on.

The Windrush Poles

My mother in law was one of 66 Polish refugees who came to the UK on the ship Empire Windrush in 1948. She arrived on the same voyage as the Caribbean Windrush Generation, which has featured so prominently in the news during the first half of 2018. The story of how she and the other Poles came to be there, is an incredible, little known tale, which I have become determined to capture. For more information go to www.windrushpoles.co.uk
